Just when you thought people couldn't get stupider...

Seriously?

Person with grenade walks into Detroit police station, says, 'Look what I found'

Detroit — Officials evacuated the Detroit Police Department's Eastern District building after a person walked in the building with a grenade on Friday.

The person entered the building with the explosive device and told officers: "Look what I found," according to Detroit Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens.

Officials summoned the bomb squad to the building.

At least now we know what Obama supporters do in their spare time.

I'm surprised they didn't just shoot him.

Or arrest him for being a terrorist.

C'mon now. it's Detroit, what do you really expect?

Just be glad he didn't try to hand it in after pulling the pin.

I’ve had artillery and grenade simulators, old dynamite, live 20mm cannon shells and electric blasting caps and a mock IED in a backpack turned in to me over the years. I believe it is only through the grace of God that some nitwit didn’t get me hurt. Hell, we still have folks digging up live Civil War cannon shells and taking them home…

@ Aaron: It was probably an old American grenade, made by union workers. In other words, defective and dangerous as a pillow.

LOL, any bets the Desk Sgt needed a new pair of underwear??? :-0

@ Old NFO: It's Detroit. That Sergeant is already retired on a "stress" disability.

What good are police departments if they are going to be too scared to deal with an old grenade? Why should people pay taxes to them if they are not going to deal with what they are supposed to deal with?

Seems to me that they dealt with it. Professionals are trained not to take stupid chances with things that might kill them because injured/dead police officers aren't any good to anyone. But if you want to play with such things, I'll watch...from a safe distance.
